Charity Through Fundraising

Saved in: charity club

Article by

Many are supported through various kinds of . The school lamington drive or selling chocolates door-to-door are well known in most communities. Many children’s charities could not exist without this generous support from the community; however, people do get tired of the same fundraising over and over.

Why not make the next a little different? In these days of computer technology, an online store for your chosen charity would be appropriate. It not only saves a great deal of time, but is relatively easy to set up.

Cottage by the Sea is a community charity fundraising service caring for Australian children and families in need. We are one of the oldest Australian charities operating since 1890 and provide short term relief care in a seaside holiday environment to children and families in need.

Independent children’s charities, like ours, rely heavily on community support and to provide a service to approximately 900 children every year. There is no other organisation of its kind that provides all year round relief care in Victoria. Supporting Australian charities, through donations, is incredibly important to seeing services like this continue.

Not everyone likes to be asked to buy something when they answer that ring on their front door bell. But nearly everyone likes to spend time on their computer and many people have become used to shopping this way. If your fundraising includes things to buy that are practical and useful, then many more people are likely to buy from you and support your charity.

You can make the product something that is personal to each person. For instance, you could offer photo mugs that they will upload their own photo for. This gives supporters a chance to buy something that is unique to them alone. Such a mug will make a beautiful gift for family members, so it is useful too. It will meet a need for a gift in a way that is easy and fun.

If you added other things such as key rings, calendars, photo books, mouse pads and T-shirts you would get a great many more buyers. People would buy because those are things they need anyway. So really you are fulfilling a need in the community as well as helping out a charity – something that will make any fund-raising event successful.

Once your fund-raising event has an online presence it is possible to attract a great many more donors than you could do locally. People all over Australia would be able to find your website and buy goods from your online store.

Charleston, SC () May 02, 2012

Charleston, SC schools have embraced and early results from machines sales indicate a strong appetite for the all- and organic snacks and beverages in new, state-of-the-art , announced (http://www.vendnatural.com). , one of the fastest-growing companies in the U.S., has installed machines in six Charleston area schools with more scheduled installations in the coming weeks. These schools are a model for the state and the country, which is facing skyrocketing rates of obesity for both adults and teenagers.

Over the past several months, six schools in Charleston area Berkeley County school district – including Hanahan and High School, Sangaree , Westview , Sedgefield and College Park – have installed new state-of-the art Vend Natural healthy vending machines as part of a strong commitment to wellness for students, staff and visitors. A seventh school in the Berkeley school district ? Cane Bay School ? is scheduled to install a healthy vending machine in the coming weeks. The Vend Natural dual-zone machines carries a wide selection of both refrigerated drinks and ambient temperature snacks such as all natural chips and popcorn, low fat health bars, organic fruit smoothies, natural coconut water and more. All of the products available through Vend Natural meet or exceed federal, state and school nutritional standards for calories, fat, vitamins, fiber, sodium and more.

Commenting on the newly-installed machines, Hanahan Middle School?s Principal Robin Rogers said, ?This new vending solution was a top priority for our school to ensure that all of our students have access to healthier snacks and drinks with better nutritional components, which we know is crucial for learning.? He continued, ?Our Vend Natural machines are exceeding our expectations, as the kids are enjoying the new product selection and the school is enjoying a stronger revenue stream from commissions than anticipated. We are all thrilled and hope to see more schools in Berkeley and other neighboring school districts follow our lead.?

Vend Natural, founded by company CEO Gil Sanchez, is one of the fastest-growing healthy vending companies in the U.S. and was formed to address the declining health of our nation and skyrocketing teenage and adult obesity rates by providing healthier snacking alternatives to schools, hospitals and businesses. The company?s mission is to support improved eating practices by offering healthy products that are easily accessible and affordable to everyone.

Managing Vend Natural of the Carolinas is entrepreneur and cancer survivor Jan Moore. Jan?s personal story is compelling. Like many southerners, Jan was raised on fast food and southern style cooking. In 2007 and with no family history, Jan was suddenly diagnosed with cancer. Early detection and medical treatment saved her life and she is now cancer free. This experience compelled Jan to learn more about the impact and importance of good nutrition on health and motivated her to change her own and her family?s .

Jan commented, ?My unexpected battle with cancer opened my eyes to the role that diet plays in overall health and wellness. As a fast-food kid my whole life, it didn?t occur to me that diet could contribute to poor health. Now, I know all too well how essential it is to eat well for life. I knew that joining Vend Natural in Charleston would be a way to provide others in our community with access to healthier snacks and drinks, which is so important. I have even seen a major, positive change in my daughter?s ADHD since bringing home healthy snacks from our vending machines.?

She continued, ?To make that connection even clearer, I will donate 1% of sales from Vend Natural healthy vending to Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research. It is my hope that more schools, hospitals and businesses join with me in the battle for better health and bring delicious and healthier snacks and drinks to Charleston?s kids.?

Vend Natural is the only healthy snacking company in the country that not only partners with business owners coast to coast, but also owns and operates its own machines on the west and east coasts. This enables the company to test new equipment and products before full roll-out and provide the most relevant training and customer service operation for its distributors. ?We don?t just ?sell? the business, we are IN the business, which makes us significantly more knowledgeable about what works and what doesn?t,? said Mr. Carpenter. Vend Natural also enjoys an exclusive relationship with Del Monte Fresh Produce to provide fresh cut apples, pineapples, carrots, celery, bananas and more, to their customers.

Vending Machines Go Green: Good for the Body and the Planet

Saved in: charity club

East Hartford, () May 01, 2012

In order to create awareness of the Commemorative Coin Act, the affiliated support organizations recently launched a new website in support of The Commemorative Coin Act, designed and developed by , CT, a Web Development and IT Services firm.

The new site draws attention to the bill which, if passed would lead to a coin minted in honor of Mark Twain. There are four non-profits currently dedicated to promoting the legacy of Mark Twain including The & Museum in Hartford, CT; The Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum in Hannibal, Missouri; the Center for Mark Twain Studies at Elmira College in Elmira, New York; and The Mark Twain Papers & Project at the Bancroft Library of the University of California, Berkeley. All four of the non-profits would benefit from the proceeds of the coin, which is produced at no cost to tax payers.

The website allows visitors to learn more about the Coin Act to encourage them to contact their state representatives and senators to support the bill. It also includes links to the websites of the four Mark Twain related non-profits to learn more about the history of Mark Twain and the individual organizations.

?The Mark Twain Coin will commemorate the legacy of one of America?s most important and influential writers,? Executive Director of the Mark Twain House, Jeffrey L. Nichols said. ?Yesterday’s House action would not have been possible without the hard work of the proposal’s two sponsors, Representatives John Larson (D-CT) and Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO). We also want to thank ForeSite Technologies for donating the design and development of marktwaincoin.org which will help spread the word about the importance and impact of the coin bill.
